D.I.S.C. The Art residency is offering various curatorial art residency programs in collaboration with the National and International artists. The organization's ethics is to assimilate the ideas, share the skill to create and discover new forms in art. The residents will get an opportunity to work with the writers, artist communities, and indigenous art forms from different parts of India. The residency is designed for different kinds of participants to understand the value of socio-cultural practices prevalent in India. Also this program will help them to accommodate a new ambiance and connect with the ancient art and craft practices. The program will give equal rights to all participants to express their creativity innovatively.
The residency is accumulating both from ancient as well as the contemporary art practices of India. Our vision is to travel to rural India, collaborate with the artisans and build a connection with the globe. The indigenous local people with their culturally cultivated folk dances, songs, and ways of life formed within their sphere of interaction. Exchange products with the neighbour. It will always be inspiring for all of us to explore the arts and cultural practices in their social life.
The resident artists will focus on one form of art during their visit to India. While traveling, artists are obliged to respect the rural lifestyle to understand the socio-cultural life of India. It is more challenging for each one of us to incorporate the rural lifestyle.
We take a small group of international artists, two Indian contemporary artists, and three master artists from ancient art and crafts practices. All artists will be traveling together to rural India, living with the artists, and collaborating with a traditional master artist.
The selected artists will participate in two-junctures as follows; first phase in Journey to the rural part of India, followed by collaborating with the national artists and artisans as the second phase and the final phase is sharing their experiences through art exhibitions, seminars, or performances to the public.
The artist can work as a group or can work independently to complete their work for an exhibition/performance. At the base, camp artists are free to work with artisans. Each residency program will have a curated exhibition with a group of artists. The curator has to conceptualize the exhibition, and s/he has all rights to select the work for the exhibition. The curator will have to conceptualize the exhibition after or before the journey of the program.
